Abstract
Femicide is a term used to refer to the killing of women by their husbands with the motive of defending their honor. This category of crimes may exist in any society; But its frequency, nature, motivations and factors are different in different societies. In recent years, feminicide has spread in Iranian society, and this issue has been examined from different perspectives and has had many reactions. The purpose of this article is to critically examine the issue of femicide and examine these reactions using analytical and descriptive research methods. The research findings show that in a general view these reactions are divided into two groups; The first category of these types of murders is caused by the inefficiency of Iran's criminal policy and the reason for this is the introduction of jurisprudence into the general law. The second group, however, considers this type of murder to be caused by religious zeal and put the killer and the victim on the same level, and consider each of them oppressed. In terms of comparing these two views, it can be said that the opinion of the first group, although in some cases it is wrong with the truth; But it cannot be considered as the definitive reason for the spread of the crime of femicide. While the second point of view not only has no rational basis, it is also not compatible with many jurisprudential and legal conditions of murder in bed. In addition to the fact that the perpetrators of this category of crimes did not pay attention to the religious aspect of it when committing murder, so that it can be defended under the title of religious zeal.
