The impact of family on Juvenile delinquency (Case study;Kabul children reform and education center)

Abstract

One of the important channels of socialization and preparing people to enter the bigger world is family. That, it has been known as the smallest, the most basic and at the same time the most important social unit. it has great impact on the growth and development of juvenile personality and has major emotional, social, educational and moral functions. The inability of family in any of the function will lead to major problems. one of the consequences of family inefficiency and lack of proper functioning is the occurrence of delinquent behaviors. Hence, in this thesis, researcher explore the rule of family in juveniles’ delinquency, case study of Kabul children reform and education center. Therefore, for exploring this problem a questionnaire was designed and distributed to one hundred juvenile delinquents of this center. The findings of this study show that due to the long-term civil war of Afghanistan, the destruction of Afghanistan’s infrastructure and job opportunities, and staying away people from literacy. illiteracy, poverty and absence of father in the family are the most influential factors (among other factors of this study) of juveniles’ delinquency of Kabul children reform and education center. As, out of one hundred juvenile delinquents of Kabul children reform and education center ninety-three of them selected illiteracy, ninety-one of them selected family poverty and eighty-nine of them selected absence of father in the family as a very influential factors in their tendency towards delinquency.
